Launched in 2019, the Little League® Girls with Game Initiative is dedicated to honoring all the girls and women who have made the Little League program what it is today and those who inspire the future generation of female participants at every level. From written stories and feature videos to inspiring quotes and photos across all its digital media platforms, the Girls with Game initiative celebrates the memorable moments, exciting events, and inspiring individuals throughout the Little League Baseball and Softball program all year long. Each March, in coordination with National Women’s History Month, Little League celebrates its own women’s history with Girls with Game Month across all its social media channels and at LittleLeague.org/GirlsWithGame. Help us share your inspirational Girls with Game stories by using #GirlsWithGame and by tagging @LittleLeague on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Female Participation

Promoting and encouraging female participation in Little League is paramount to our core values of inclusion and building community. As we endeavor to create equitability in our program, bring new training opportunities to coaches and volunteers, and grow support for local leagues, it is imperative that Little League communities work together to create new opportunities to attract and keep girls in the program.

Overcoming adversity through the hard times is just to remember to keep going. Keep pushing, keep fighting and know that things are going to get better.

– Aliyah Andrews, Professional Softball Player

My biggest goal for any young girl is for them to look at themselves in the mirror, and see someone that is strong, smart, beautiful, and kick butt.

– Jessica Mendoza, Two-Time Olympic Medalist and ESPN Analyst

Playing sports helps you build skills for your life.

– Heather Tarr, University of Washington Softball Head Coach

Make the most of an opportunity. If someone gives you an opportunity to try something, go try it. What’s the worst thing that’s gonna happen, you figure out you don’t like it?

– Cat Osterman, Two-Time Olympic Medalist, Bear Creek Little League (Houston, Texas)

We are just as hard working, we are just as passionate, we are just as competitive as anybody else in sports. So I think it’s cool to be a female to recognize female athletes, to recognize women in sports.

– Sam Fischer, Easton and Athletes Unlimited Softball Player
