During the heart of the 65th National Little League® Week Celebration, and just one week after the anniversary of the first-ever Little League game on June 6, Little League International is pleased to announce the first-round pairings for the 2024 Little League Softball® World Series, Presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods.
This year’s unique drawings brought with it some special guests, with Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball players, Tori Vidales and Sam Fischer, leading the drawings for the 2024 Little League Softball World Series, Presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods, and ESPN KidsCast, Pepper Persley, hosting the full drawing show at the historic Maria Pepe Little League Baseball® Legacy Series, the first-ever all-female baseball game held at Howard J. Lamade Stadium.
Set to take place on August 4-11 at its home in Greenville, North Carolina, the 2024 Little League Softball World Series, Presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods, will be a historic peak for a memorable Summer of Softball and once again feature 12 teams from around the world, divided into the Purple and Orange brackets, competing for the championship banner. Along with the year-long honoring of girls within the Little League program as part of the Girls with Game 50 Celebration, the 2024 LLSWS also marks the 50th Anniversary of the Little League Softball World Series, which was first won in 1974 by an incredible group of Girls with Game from Wellswood Little League in Tampa, Florida.
This year’s event will also feature the return of the AU Pro Games at the LLSWS, Presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods, which will bring all 60 pro softball players to the home of the LLSWS for a day of interaction with the LLSWS participants on August 6 before a doubleheader at East Carolina University’s softball stadium in front of those same Girls with Game on August 7. Additionally, this year’s historic LLSWS will also feature its championship game being broadcasted on ABC for the second year in a row, furthering the commitment of ESPN and Little League to the growth of its softball program.
Home and away designations for the LLSWS games will be decided via coin flip during the manager briefings held prior to the start of the tournament. The drawings were held so that the regions who received a bye in the 2023 Little League Softball World Series would not receive a bye in 2024.
In addition to these first-round pairings, the official brackets for each of the U.S. Region Tournaments for these events have been released and are available on their respective tournament websites at LittleLeague.org/WorldSeries.
