Italy will once again be returning to Greenville, North Carolina, to represent the Europe and Africa Region at the 2024 Little League Softball® World Series, Presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods, as Emilia Romagna Little League (Bologna, Italy) defeated Czech Bohemia Little League, 7-1, in the region championship game.
Emilia Romagna LL went 5-0 in the region tournament while defeating the runner-up Bohemia LL twice, including its championship-clinching 7-1 victory.
Italy has represented the Europe and Africa Region in the last three Little League Softball World Series events featuring international teams, with Lombardia Little League earning the bid in 2023 and 2019 while Emilia Romagna Little League won the honors in 2022. This marks the eighth time in history, dating back to Lombardia Little League’s first trip in 2008, that Italy is represented in the tournament.
With the first-round matchups set, Emilia Romagna LL will compete in the Orange Bracket and will play in its first game against the winner of Game 3 between the Latin America Region and Central Region champions on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
In addition to the fun and excitement of the 2024 Little League Softball World Series, participants at this year’s event will also have the unique experience to spend time with the top athletes in the game as Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball returns to Greenville for the 2024 AU Pro Games at the LLSWS, featuring a doubleheader at East Carolina University on Wednesday, August 7.
