Due to the weather, it took both teams playing a double header on Saturday, but Central/Illinois and Southwest/Texas won out, and punched their ticket to the Championship Game, Sunday.
In the early game, Central rolled over Latin America, 16-0, then defeated West, 9-0. They used bursts of scoring and good pitching and defense to earn their spot in the final.
Southwest had and easy time defeating Southeast 15-1 in the early game, but struggled to score after putting up 2 in the first inning against a tough Canada team. Canada managed to score 1 late in the game, and it took a game ending double play by Southwest/Texas, to finally secure the win, and their ticket to the final game.
Both teams were at the Senior Softball World Series last year, the Southwest team beat the Host, District 3, Delaware, last year in a game that featured a scoring explosion. Central didn’t make the final game in 2023, but they return several players from a team that made it to the final 8.
