Heading into year two at its new home in Greenville, North Carolina, the 2022 Little League Softball® World Series experience officially got underway on Saturday, August 6, with the first ever Girls with Game Celebration at Elm Street Park.
Leading off with a welcome message from Ashlea Nash, the Little League Director of Softball Development, as well as remarks from the volunteer members of the Little League Softball World Series Committee, all of the girls from the 12 participating teams had the unique opportunity to hear from Jaiden Fields, University of Georgia Outfielder, thanks to the support of T-Mobile.
Following the welcome messages, players were invited around the complex to participate in a number of different activities including autographs with Jaiden Fields; an adidas hair-braiding station that incorporated the teams’ colors and their unique cleat air-brushing station; a photo booth courtesy of DICK’S Sporting Goods; a customized ESPNW photo mural; a Girls with Game signature wall, courtesy of Easton; and various outdoor games and activities.
In addition to all the fun and activities, a local 16-year-old DJ and native to Greenville, FADA’WAY, played music throughout the night to keep the teams entertained. For all of the teams, this became the first time to interact with the other participants, and by the end of the night, many of the teams were exchanging phone numbers and dancing with each other.
The 2022 Little League Softball World Series will officially run from August 9-15, but the memories and experiences the participating teams will endure will last them all a lifetime.
