Sprague (Ore.) Little League topped Emilia-Romagna (Italy) Little League 4-3 to claim their first victory in the Little League Baseball® World Series.
Oregon jumped ahead to an early lead with one run in the first inning. They scored three more in the third inning to tally four total runs. Italy answered, with one run in the third and two more in the fifth, but Oregon was able to hold onto the lead to secure the victory.
Northwest started Gavin Price on the mound, who pitched for five innings and tallied nine strikeouts. Carson McNally came in for relief in the last inning, striking out one. They let up five hits and no walks during the game.
Alex Giovandari started on the mound for Europe-Africa, and he stayed in for two innings before Tommaso Metalli Grisetti came in. Tommaso pitched another two innings, then Davide Lugli came in for relief. The three pitchers combined to strike out five and walk three. They let up five hits throughout the game.
