Epitacio “Mala” Torres Little League from Guadalupe, Nuevo León, has been named Mexico Region Champions of the 2019 Little League Baseball® World Series after winning the country championship with a 3-1 victory over Matamoros Little League.
With the win, Epitacio “Mala” Torres Little League earns its first ever trip to Williamsport this August. This will be the 33rd team from Mexico to head to qualify for the Little League Baseball World Series. In total, only six teams from Mexico have ever made it to the Little League Baseball World Series Championship, with three of those going on to win it.
Epitacio “Mala” Torres LL finished the Mexico Region tournament with a 6-1 record, its only loss coming early on in pool play in a 7-6 game against Infantil y juvenil Coatzacoalcos Little League of Veracruz.
Epitacio “Mala” Torres LL will face the Canada Region Champion in their first game in the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series on Friday, August 16 at 6 p.m. in Volunteer Stadium. Spanning the course of 10 days, 32 games will be played in the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, culminating in the Championship Game, which is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 25.
