Canada fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-3 loss to Latin America on Friday.
The Latin America Region, represented by Vacamonte Little League from Arraijan, Panama, got on the board in the first inning when Ian Huang’s wild pitch allowed one run to score.
Adan Sanchez upped the score to 4-0 on the strength of a three-run home run.
Pitcher Brian Villarreal earned the mound victory, going 3 2/3 innings, allowing one run on one hit and striking out seven. Carlos Arcia and Sanchez entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game.
Huang took the mound loss for Canada. He allowed five hits and six runs over 1 2/3 innings, striking out four.
Dio Gama, Jaren Ashbee, Kai Sheck, Nate Colina, and Cole Balkovec each collected one hit to lead Canada.
Latin America tallied nine hits on the day, while playing error-free ball behind 11 assists from Jean Rodriguez.
