Following a difficult walk-off loss in its first outing at the Little League Baseball World Series, Australia’s Gold Coast Little League had a tough time generating runs during its second game, fall 6-0 to Puerto Rico’s Radames Lopez Little League, the Caribbean Region Champion.
Yadiel Delgado pitched the Caribbean Region champs to victory days after suffering its own walk-off defeat at the hands of the Asia-Pacific Region winners. Delgado when four innings, allowing one hit and no runs, while striking out seven and not walking a batter. Roberto Joubert, Luis A. Rivera, and Luis Diaz all put in work in relief.
Matthew White took the mound loss for Australia. He went three and 2/3 of an inning, allowing four runs on six hits, striking out five, and walking one.
John Lopez led Caribbean with two hits in four at bats.
The loss eliminated Australia from title contention, while the Caribbean team advances to play Sunday’s Japan-Latin America winner.
