Procedures for use of a Double First Base

The pitch count rule does not allow an ambidextrous pitcher to throw a maximum pitch count using both arms in the same game.

It is the location of the ball in reference to the baseline that determines whether it is fair or foul.

A player, whose name is on the team’s batting order may not become a substitute runner for another member of the team. “Courtesy runner” is not permitted.

If the base coach base, by touching or holding the runner, physically assists the runner in returning to, or leaving the base, the runner is out and the ball is dead.

A manager or coach may come out once in one inning to visit with the pitcher, but the second time out, the player must be removed as a pitcher.

In Major Baseball and below, the pitcher is not required to come to a complete and discernible stop before delivering the pitch, whether there are runners on base, or not.

A manager or coach may not protest unsportsmanlike behavior because no protest shall be considered on a decision involving and umpire’s judgment.

When a batter swings at or is touched by a pitch, the ball is immediately declared dead.
