After the conclusion of their state championship and prior to the start of the West Region Little League Baseball Tournament, team officials with Summerlin South Little League from Las Vegas, Nevada, self-identified that a number of their team members tested positive for COVID-19. In consultation with its medical advisors, assessing the contact tracing, test results, and time between positive tests and the start of the West Region Tournament, the Summerlin South team will be permitted to compete in San Bernardino, California, as the Nevada State Champions. The individuals who tested positive will be able to rejoin their team, as directed by our medical advisors based on the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, 10 days after their positive test.
All remaining participants will be tested upon their arrival at the West Region Tournament, with unvaccinated participants being tested every other day. The participants who tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the start of the tournament will not be tested throughout the duration of the tournament. In the interest of the privacy, the identities of those who have tested positive will not be released.
