The field for the 2020 Little League Baseball® Europe and Africa Region Tournament was officially announced as 12 teams will take the field in Kutno, Poland, on July 19-26.
Based on the results of the 2019 tournament, the 10 countries who will receive an automatic bid into the 2020 Little League Baseball Europe and Africa Region Tournament are:
- Austria
- Belarus
- Belgium
- Czech Republic
- Germany-USA
- Italy
- Netherlands
- Spain
- Ukraine
- United Kingdom
The final two teams to participate in the 2020 Europe and Africa Region Tournament will be determined during the Little League Baseball Europe and Africa Region Qualifier Tournament, held on July 13-17, with the top two finishers from that tournament earning a spot in the Region Tournament.
The decision to move towards a qualifier tournament was made in 2018 and is designed to give developing countries a chance to compete in a tournament format with two teams advancing to participate in the Europe and Africa Regional Tournament.
Starting in 2020, the two countries who earn their first two losses at the Region Tournament will lose their direct entry into the Region event for the following year, and the two teams who win the qualifier in 2020 will be awarded with direct entry for this year. Those teams who lose direct entry will still be permitted to compete through the Qualifier Tournament with hopes of returning as a direct entry country in the future. In case of a tie, runs allowed ratio will be used.
