This August, nearly 150 Little Leaguers® from across the United States will be making the trip to Greenville, North Carolina, to participate in the Little League Softball® World Series (LLSWS) for the first time at its new location at Stallings Stadium at Elm Street Park. At the core of making the LLSWS a memorable event for all the players, volunteers, and families is the LLSWS Tournament Committee, made up of volunteers from throughout the Greenville community and surrounding areas ready to provide a warm and welcoming environment for everyone involved.
“Since we made the announcement that Greenville would be the new home of the Little League Softball World Series, the members of the Tournament Committee have gone above and beyond to ensure that this event would be a unique and memorable experience for everyone who attends this year and in the future,” said Sara Thompson, Little League Director of Softball Development and LLSWS Tournament Director. “We are thankful to each of our volunteer committee members for the countless hours of commitment that they have provided and are looking forward to working with them this August to make the first Little League Softball World Series in Greenville one that will be remembered for years to come.”
Working alongside Ms. Thompson as the Tournament Director, the Tournament Committee consists of:
- Brian Weingartz – Committee Chairman
- Ann Weingartz
- Mark Phillips
- LuAnne Phillips
- Ashley Weingartz
- Ann Marie Rogers
- Scott “Scooter” Rogers
- Marshall Casey
- Chris Riddle
- Kevin Fisher
- Demiko Ervin (Little League Director of Urban Initiative)
In addition to the committee listed above, members of Greenville Little League, the City of Greenville, and the Greenville-Pitt County Sports Commission, and Little League International Staff have, and will continue to play, an instrumental part in providing the participants, families, and visitors of the Little League Softball World Series with a memorable experience during their time in Greenville each summer.
