Little League® International mourns the passing of Luis Matos, Jr., a long-time Little League volunteer with the Southeast Region Tournament. He was 53.
Mr. Matos, a native of Valhalla, N.Y., was a proud 20-plus year veteran of the United States Air Force. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Logistics from the Community College of the Air Force to further his career and served as an Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Specialist having retired with the rank of Master Sergeant.
A volunteer in the Warner Robins (Ga.) American Little League, Mr. Matos also volunteered his time to the Southeast Region Tournament held each summer since 2010 at the Southeast Region facility in Warner Robins. He volunteered in many roles, but most often contributed his time to completing facilities work and overseeing the team dugouts during tournament games.
Mr. Matos is survived by his wife if 16 years, Maria; son, Dillon; parents, Luis Matos, Sr. and Carmen Rosado; sisters, Janet and Lissie; and brothers, Nelson, Hector, Norman, Elvin, Steve, and Tim.
