Little League® Baseball and Softball mourns the passing of Jen Garcia, mother of Johnston Little League’s JT Garcia.
“Our deepest condolences to the Garcia family and all those in Johnston who cherished a special moment with Jen and her son during the Little League World Series,” said Stephen D. Keener, Little League President and CEO.

That special moment came during a live, on-camera interview with ESPN’s Jaymee Sire as Mrs. Garcia began speaking about her battle with pancreatic cancer before the interview was soon cut short as her son, JT Garcia, sent a memorable home run over the centerfield wall. Filled with emotion, Mrs. Garcia began to celebrate with the Midwest Region fans and with tears rolling down her face, finished the interview by saying, “That was absolutely amazing.”
