Little League International mourns the passing of Paul Weaver, a longtime Little League Baseball® World Series team host. He was 80.
Mr. Weaver, a native of Montoursville, Pa., and resident of Bethlehem, Pa., served in the role of “Uncle Paul” each year until his retirement in 2010 (44 years).
After honorably serving in the United States Navy, Mr. Weaver worked as a Safety Training Manager for Pennsylvania Power and Light (PP&L).
During the annual Little League Baseball World Series, played in Williamsport, Pa., Mr. Weaver partnered with Fred Plankenhorn as team hosts and chaperones for teams participating in the LLB® World Series Tournament.
During the 2009 World Series, Mr. Weaver and Mr. Plankenhorn were honored as recipients of the W. Howard Hartman Little League Friendship Award, which is presented annually to an individual(s) or organization that has demonstrated a commitment to the ideals and mission of Little League.
Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn; son, Kevin; and brothers, Earl and Larry; and grandson, Cade.
