Little League® International mourns the passing of Tony Tulino, Ohio District 1 Administrator and former member of the International Advisory Board. He was 75.
Born on June 30, 1941, in Ashtabula, Ohio, and a 1959 graduate of his hometown’s St. John High School, Mr. Tulino began his service to Little League at 21 years of age when he started coaching in Ashtabula Little League. By 1965, he was Vice President of the league, serving on its Board of Directors. Later he joined the District staff, volunteering as an Assistant District Administrator for 20 years, before succeeding Robert Zimmerman as Ohio District 1 Administrator.
During his time as a Little League volunteer, Mr. Tulino also was a Little League umpire. He umpired in the 1978 Senior League Baseball World Series (Gary, Ind.); as well as the Little League Baseball® World Series in 1983 (South Williamsport, Pa.). Mr. Tulino, a member of the International Advisory Board from 2008-to-2011, was a frequent visitor to the Little League Baseball World Series.
Away from the field, Mr. Tulino spent 30 years working for the City of Ashtabula, retiring as a foreman in the Public Works Dept. Mr. Tulino was also active in other local sports through his service as a long-time Ohio High School Athletic Association official, certified in softball, baseball, and basketball. He was also President of the Northeastern Ohio Umpires Association.
Mr. Tulino is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra; sons, Anthony, Terrence, Todd, Troy, and Tim; brother, Richard; sisters, Rose Marie Luoma, Patty Karbacka, and Mary Ann Alleman; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
