For the last 67 years, baseball fans of every age have had the opportunity to listen to a man who has helped cultivate the game through his iconic voice. Little League® International joins the entire sporting community in thanking Vin Scully for his dedication to the sport of baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and to Little League, and congratulates him on his retirement.
Most revered for his work as the play-by-play announcer with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Mr. Scully has been a key influencer in the growth of baseball during his 67-year career and in 2014 served as the narrating voice for the documentary Little League: A History, created and produced by VIA Studios Global, a division of WVIA Public Media. With one of the most iconic voices in all of sports, Mr. Scully’s narration of this documentary was one of the highlights of Little League’s 75th Anniversary celebrations in 2014.
Following nearly seven decades of service to the game of baseball, all with the Dodgers, both in Brooklyn and in Los Angeles, Mr. Scully’s career will come to a close on Oct. 2, 2016 as he calls his final game between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers at AT&T Park in San Francisco.
