Celebration coincides as part of Major League Baseball’s “PLAY BALL Weekend.”
Despite severe weather in Williamsport that forced a cancellation of all outdoor activities, Little League® Baseball and Softball celebrated PLAY BALL Day with an exciting open house at the World of Little League® Museum.
With plenty of interactive exhibits, including a timed running track, 3D catcher’s experience, and defensive reflex challenge, the World of Little League Museumprovided visitors of every age a chance to experience the game of baseball and softball, while also learning a bit about Little League’s history. On June 6, Little League will also celebrate the 78th Anniversary of the first Little League game ever played.
All of the participants of the PLAY BALL Day event, as well as their families, were granted free admission to explore the Museum and those who preregistered for the event were presented with a PLAY BALL Bat Kit and a Little League goody bag.
PLAY BALL Weekend is a special celebration, by Major League Baseball and all 30 MLB Clubs, of the “PLAY BALL” initiative, which was launched by MLB and USA Baseball in 2015 as an effort to encourage youth participation in both formal and casual baseball and softball activities.
