While a Little League Baseball® World Series graduate has yet to go on to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Little League® has always had a deep connection to its friends in Cooperstown with a number of Hall of Famers making their way to Williamsport for the world’s largest youth sports event over the years.
Over the years, there have been a number of baseball greats who stopped in Williamsport, including some of the 32 who got their start in Little League. Included in those who have attended as fans and broadcasters, there have also been a number of Hall of Famers over the years who work alongside the Lycoming County Visitors Bureau to serve as special guests for the Grand Slam Parade and Williamsport Welcomes the World. In addition to their role at those festive events, those Hall of Famers also take time to head to the Little League Baseball World Series to participate in Opening Ceremonies and as a coach for the Little League Challenger Division® Exhibition Game.
Although no former Little Leaguers® earned the call to Cooperstown for the 2022 induction ceremony, Little International was pleased to see one of its longtime ESPN broadcasters and friends, Tim Kurkjian, receive the honor as the 2022 BBWAA Career Excellence Award Winner.
