Every August, hundreds of thousands of fans come from all around the world to South Williamsport, Pa., to enjoy the Little League Baseball® World Series (LLBWS). This bucket list event is one of the most iconic tournaments in all of sports, and is probably the most accessible, family friendly sporting event in the world. Here are the top five things you need to know about making a trip to the LLBWS:
No. 1 – Admission and parking at the LLBWS are free
While there are some optional costs, such as concessions and souvenirs, admission and parking at the LLBWS is 100 percent FREE. There are water fountains on site, and families can bring in snacks, as long as it follows our permitted items rules. Overall, the LLBWS is a fun and affordable experience for an all-day family outing. A family of four can attend the LLBWS (with no charge for parking or admission), purchase a souvenir program, and each person in the family can have a hot dog, french fries, and a large drink all for about $30. There are plenty of healthy options for families to choose from as well.
No. 2 – There are no tickets
No tickets are needed for stadium seating, which is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, for all games prior to Championship Weekend. While seating inside Lamade Stadium, which seats approximately 3,300, and Volunteer Stadium, which holds about 3,000, is often limited, seating is always available on the famous “hill” overlooking the outfield fence of Lamade Stadium, which offers excellent viewing and can accommodate up to 30,000 more fans. The only time Lamade Stadium is typically ticketed is for Championship Weekend, and public seating is typically limited to the hill, where there is never a ticket or pass needed. Ticketing policies are subject to change.
No. 3 – It’s not just for the diehard baseball fan
One of the most important things to appreciate is that you don’t even need to understand the game of baseball to enjoy your experience in Williamsport at the LLBWS, so fans of every age and interest level will have something to do. Along with the exciting baseball games held throughout the 10-day tournament, there are plenty of other experiences for fans to enjoy their stay at the Little League Baseball World Series. From virtual reality experiences and interactive activities throughout the Family Fun Zone, to an in-depth look into the history of Little League at the World of Little League Museum and exciting souvenir options, there are plenty of activities for fans of every age to enjoy in Williamsport.
No. 4 – You can interact with the teams
One of the most unique experiences of the LLBWS is the incredible opportunities to meet and interact with the players, coaches, and volunteers who represent their respective regions in the event. While the players and coaches have a secure location where they eat and sleep, throughout the entire event you can find the players around the complex signing autographs, hanging out with fans, and taking in every enjoyable moment during their time in Williamsport.
No. 5 – There are plenty of places to stay and visit in town
In addition to being only three hours away from major cities like Philadelphia and New York City, there are plenty of great places to stay and visit throughout the Williamsport area. Visitors to the LLBWS can work directly with the Williamsport Chamber of Commerce to identify nearby hotels, attractions, and dining options to make the most of their time in the birthplace of Little League.
