This virtual clinic will introduce the fundamentals of wedge positioning as the official mechanic to be used by Little League Umpires for tag plays at the plate.
Clinicians will discuss wedge theory in four parts, each of which will use video clips of Little League Umpires as examples. Participants will be introduced to a basic definition of the wedge, as well as an explanation of its origins and evolution, to understand the importance of using the mechanic. Video examples will be used to help teach the three basic fundamentals of wedge positioning as well as illustrating common mistakes made by umpires in using the mechanic. The clinic’s final segment will focus on using wedge theory for steal plays at the plate and end with a Q & A opportunity for all participants.
