More than 20 Little League® graduates will be heading to Cleveland this July to represent their teams in the 2019 MLB All-Star Game Festivities on July 7-9.
From the excitement of the All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, to the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday, and ultimately the 2019 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday, some of the game’s best former Little Leaguers® will take to the field for three days of memorable events.
Leading off the week’s festivities will be a display of the future talent of Major League Baseball as six former Little Leaguers will take the field in the 2019 All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 7. Last year, Little League Hall of Excellence Enshrinee and National Little League (Pine Bluff, Ark.) graduate, Torii Hunter, coached the U.S. Futures Team to an exciting 10-6 victory over the World Team.
Just months after announcing its official partnership with Little League Baseball and Softball and donating $100K to support leagues in Puerto Rico, T-Mobile will be stepping up in a big way during this year’s T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday, July 8, donating $250K plus an extra $1K per home run and $5K per magenta bonus ball home run – which could total more than $450K if players hit as many regulation home runs as they did last year. Funds raised during the event will help make local Little League programs more accessible for kids and families around the country through equipment grants and financial assistance to help make youth participation more affordable.
The festivities will round out on Tuesday, July 9, as more than 15 former Little Leaguers take to the field to compete in the 2019 MLB All-Star Game. In last year’s Midsummer Classic, the American League defeated the National League, 8-6, in a 10-inning matchup.
In addition to the excitement from the three games on the field, the 2019 MLB All-Star Festivities in Cleveland will once again feature PLAY BALL Park, an interactive area dedicated to providing fun, engaging, and educational activities for youth baseball and softball players and their families.
