Little League® International mourns the passing of Robert “Bob” J. Stearns, former Massachusetts District 7 Administrator. He was 83.
Mr. Stearns, a native of Boston and resident of Bridgewater, Mass., was a Bridgewater Little League volunteer for more than 40 years. He served in a variety of local league roles, including League President, before his election as District 7 Administrator.
Growing up in Randolph, Mass., Mr. Stearns graduated from Randolph High School, and Northeastern University. A Marine and veteran of the Korean conflict, he was employed as an engineer by the Raytheon Company for more than 50 years.
Along with his time dedicated to Little League, Mr. Stearns was also active in his community, dedicating time and leadership to local chapters of the Lions Club, Rotary, and other neighbor service organizations.
Mr. Stearns was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” J. Stearns; and brothers, George and William Stearns. He is survived by his sisters, Muriel Doherty and Helen Bourbeau; daughters, Debra Morin and Cheryl O’Leary; sons, Randall J. Quast and Robert Stearns; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many loving relatives and friends.
