For the second-straight year, St. Albert Softball Little League will represent Canada at the Little League Softball World Series in Greenville, North Carolina, after winning the Canada Region Championship, on Monday, July 31.
With a 4-2 victory over Quebec in the championship game, St. Albert Softball LL finished the Region Tournament with an unblemished 3-0 record, including a 10-0 route of British Columbia to earn a spot in the championship game.
While Canada has yet to win a Little League Softball World Series Championship, last year’s St. Albert Softball Little League squad became the first team from Alberta to make it to the World Series since 2000 when Sunridge Little League in Calgary earned the spot. Prior to 2022, teams from British Columbia and Ontario have represented the country since 2000, with Hampton Little League and Layritz Little League making the trip since 2013.
With the first-round matchups for the 2023 LLSWS set, St. Albert Softball Little League is set to take on Guayama (Puerto Rico) Softball Little League of the Latin America Region in the Orange Bracket opener for Game 2 on Sunday, August 6, at 1 p.m. ET.
In addition to the fun and excitement of the 2023 LLSWS, participants at this year’s event will also have the unique opportunity to spend time with the top athletes of the game as part of the first ever AU Pro Games at the LLSWS, featuring an Athletes Unlimited doubleheader at East Carolina University on Wednesday, August 9.
Following the most-watched LLSWS in history last year, the #SummerOfSoftball will be celebrated once again in 2023 as the program continues to make history with this year’s LLSWS Championship game being aired on ABC for the first time this summer while the championship games from six Little League Softball U.S. Region Tournaments will be broadcast on ESPN, after four years of airing on ESPN+ (the Southwest Region Championship will continue to air on Longhorn Network).
