Musashi Fuchu Little League of Tokyo, Japan, will return to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for the fourth time after winning the Japan Region Championship, 6-0, over Shonan Little League to earn its spot in the 2023 Little League Baseball® World Series, Presented by T-Mobile.
Musashi Fuchu LL ended the tournament with a 4-0 record while outscoring its opponents, 36-6. The league has previously made appearances in Williamsport in 2000, 2003, and 2013, winning the World Series Championship title in each of its last two trips.
Japan made its first appearance in the LLBWS in 1962, and with its 32 appearances now holds third place in international teams represented in the LLBWS, behind only Canada (61) and Mexico (33). The country also holds multiple team and individual records at the LLBWS, including one of the tournament’s five perfect games (1976). Japan has had direct entry into the tournament since 2007 and is second all-time with 11 LLBWS Championship crowns. This year, Musashi Fuchu LL is in search of the league’s third World Series championship and the country’s first title since 2017.
With the first-round matchups of the 2023 LLBWS announced on June 6, Musashi Fuchu LL will square off against Bayamo (Cuba) Little League in Game 3 of the LLBWS on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 5 p.m. at Volunteer Stadium.
