Little League® International has been informed of at least one positive COVID-19 test within the New York State Little League Softball tournament team at the Little League Softball World Series. In consultation with and at the recommendation of our medical advisors, Little League International has notified the team that it will no longer be able to participate in the tournament, due to the team not being able to field nine players. The team members and their families have been informed of all appropriate health measures to help ensure all individuals are cared for, and that appropriate isolation and quarantine efforts are being followed.
First and foremost, Little League International wishes all those impacted a full and healthy recovery. New York’s remaining game in the tournament, scheduled for Sunday, August 15 at 7 p.m. eastern, will be declared a 6-0 forfeit. As New York has been unfortunately removed from the tournament, the four remaining teams in the pool will advance to the elimination phase of the Little League Softball World Series, beginning on Monday, August 16. More information on the impact to the tournament schedule is available at LittleLeague.org/WorldSeries.
