The World of Little League® Museum was recently named the recipient of a 2019 ISHY Award, as presented by the International Sports Heritage Association (ISHA), for its video feature spotlighting the iconic Story of the Little League® Patch. This marks the second straight year that the Museum earns an ISHY Award after taking home the honor in 2018 with its feature “It All Started Here,” produced for Little League International by 20/20 Visual Media.
“We are honored to earn our second consecutive ISHY Award and are thankful to the International Sports Heritage Association and all those involved with the award for this recognition,” said Lance Van Auken, Little League Vice President and Executive Director of the Museum. “The Little League Patch has always been a rich piece of our organization’s history and over the years has become an iconic symbol of the Little League program all around the world. This video helps us to tell the story of what that patch has meant to all those who have come before us and will help to inspire the future to be a part of our storied program.”
The ISHY Awards program was established to provide recognition for excellence in publications and exhibits by all member sports museums, hall of fame, or sports heritage organizations, regardless of size or budget, based upon a competition evaluated by ISHA members and communications professionals. With award categories covering books; non-book publications; marketing materials; education programming; and Hall of Fame inductions and/or annual event support materials, the ISHY Awards recognize outstanding achievements by the members of ISHA each year.
In addition to the award presented to the World of Little League® Museum in the category of Audio/Video Shorts, four other programs were named ISHY Award recipients (category in parentheses):
- Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame (Social Media)
- International Tennis Hall of Fame (New Exhibit, Less Than $50K)
- British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame (New Exhibit, $50K-250K)
- Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum (New Exhibit, $250K or More)
The awards will be presented on October 24 at the ISHA Annual Conference in Wichita, Kansas.
