Chofu (Japan) Little League defeated Central East Maui (Hi.) Little League, 5-0, in the Little League Baseball® World Series Consolation Game on Sunday Morning at Howard J. Lamade Stadium.
Japan struck early, with three runs in the first inning. The team from Chofu City Little League scored two more runs in the fifth to secure the victory. The Japan Region winners, tallied seven hits in the game, highlighted by doubles from Daiki Kobari, Jo Nishizawa, and Taishi Kawaguchi. Hawaii tallied six total hits, but were shut out by the Japanese defense.
Japan’s starter Yuto Misaki worked the first five innings, striking out 10 and walking one. Yuto Kakeba took the mound in the sixth inning, striking out one and walking one to secure the victory.
Shiloh Gilliland pitched the entire game for the West Region, recording one strikeout and walking one.
