2019 Junior League Baseball World Series: August 11 – 18

California Takes Victory Over Puerto Rico, Winning Junior League Baseball World Series Championship, 8-3

West defeated Puerto Rico 8-3 thanks to a strong start. West scored on a error in the first inning, a single by Kyle Kim in the second inning, and a walk by DJ Garcia in the second inning.

West pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning. In the second Kim singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Garcia drew a walk, scoring one run.

West notched three runs in the sixth inning. Garcia and Dustin Staggs all drove in runs in the frame.

Kim got the win for West. He allowed six hits and one run over six and two-thirds innings, striking out three.

JLBWS Tournament

Alexis Ramirez took the loss for Puerto Rico. He went one and one-third innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out two.

Russell Yang started the game for West. He lasted one-third of an inning, allowing one hit and two runs Yahir Fonseca started the game for Puerto Rico. He allowed one hit and three runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one.

West saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game. Garcia and Kim each managed multiple hits for West. Kim and Garcia each managed two hits to lead West.

Puerto Rico racked up seven hits. Fonseca and Nathan Martinez all managed multiple hits for Puerto Rico. Fonseca went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Puerto Rico in hits.
