Cacique Mara Little League from Maracaibo, Venezuela, has officially earned a spot in the 2019 Little League Baseball® World Series as the Latin America Region Champions after a 2-0 victory over David Doleguita Little League of Panama.
This will be the first time Cacique Mara Little League makes the trip to Williamsport and will be the 20th team from Venezuela to play in the Little League Baseball World Series, 15 of which came from Maracaibo. In 2017, the league played in the Little League Intermediate (50/70) Baseball World Series where they made it to the international championship before falling to the eventual World Series champion from Puerto Rico.
Cacique Mara Little League finished with a 5-1 record in the Latin America Region tournament with its only loss coming to Aguadulce Cabezera Little League in their second game of the tournament.
Cacique Mara Little League will play against South Korea, the Asia-Pacific Region champions, in their first game of the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series on Thursday, August 15 at 5 p.m. in Volunteer Stadium. Spanning the course of 10 days, 32 games will be played in the 2019 Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport, culminating in the Championship Game, which is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 25.
